Last week some friends & I stopped by the slow moving, tourist wave known as the Seattle Center; where recenly the city ripped out what was the 'Fun Forest'.
There you could find 1960's carnival rides, arcade games & sugar. They replaced this nostalgia with a glass garden museum for artist Dale Chihuly.
We explored....
The rooms were dark, which helped all the vivid colors become even more magical. Everything reminded me of E.T's home planet or a slight acid dream.
My favorite parts were actually the reflections of the pieces on the shiny stands they stood on & the shadows/ lights formed on the walls.
Once the sun went down, all the glass outside lit up & glowed in the dark.
Later, I came to find hat all the art I was staring at wasn't physically made by Chihuly. He stopped blowing glass after a car accident left him blind in one eye, and another accident dislocated a shoulder. He's more the director. Which was kind of a bummer to hear, cause he's an annoyingly hyped up guy. I feel the credit should go to the folks who actually made the pieces.... and I've seen far better & unique glass artists out there.
Anywho! I did really enjoy it. I even made a little creature friend.
Below are the snapped photos.....
